List of enemy Monomakias
In the anime series and manga Brigadoon: Marin & Melan, Monomakias are bionic weapons from the world called Brigadoon that come down from the sky to try to bring Marin, the protagonist, back to Brigadoon with them. This is an unofficial listing of enemy Monomakias shown in the anime series.
- Dollon: A Murder Monomakia, and the first one that Marin encountered on the day Brigadoon first appeared. Resembling a Daruma doll, Dollon could fly, spins at high speeds and has four different eyes, each with a different function. Melan defeated Dollon by slicing off the crown of its head.
- Bronte-type Monomakias: Named Proton, Deuteron, and Triton. Appeared from the strange object called the Tower of Bronte that fell into Tokyo Bay. When the three fly in triangle formation, they were able to generate a very powerful energy field which they used to paralyze their victims. They were also able to produce enough electrical energy to overload light bulbs and illuminate Tokyo Tower. All three were defeated by Melan.
- Hyudol: A liquid Monomakia that was also inside the Tower of Bronte. At first it was only a small pink blob and went unnoticed for several days. It grew bigger and stronger by consuming animals and even a zoo-keeper at the Ueno Zoo. By the time it got to Marin at Shinobazu Pond it had grown into a huge, watery elephant-like form with wings allowing it to fly through the air. When Melan explained to Marin that the only way to kill it was dehydrating it, she had him lure it to a plant that produced desiccant. It was killed when Melan buried it under a huge pile of desiccant.
- Nepon: A sniper Monomakia that looked like a pink snail. Many of them were sent to Earth but they all landed in a sake brewery and dissolved in the alcohol. The lone survivor got in three attempted shots at Marin. The first was aborted when she moved out of range, the second helped her escape from the police, and the third of which failed. Never even got to fight Melan, as he dissolved when Tadashi accidentally spilled sake on him. In the Japanese, he makes a sound which appears to be him saying his name.
- Tarratta: Formerly a Land and Resources Monomakia, it was outfitted for combat and landed in the ocean near a beach. It was a metallic giant with a long neck, spidery legs and fiery breath, but seemed to be unable to move itself from one place to another as it remained where it fell. It never reached Marin because Melan was able to kill it without her even knowing.
- Ryunma: A free-forming string-using Monomakia that appeared at the bath house in Marin's neighborhood. Actually a small spider-like creature, it chose to spin itself a form like that of a beautiful woman. It tried to take Marin to Brigadoon by lifting the bath house from the ground in an enormous cloud made of pink threads. It was also able to turn its strings invisible, which made it possible for it to bind up everyone including Melan. Only Jun was still unbound inside of Poikun's shell. She discovered how to eject his head from his body, which allowed him to bite through the threads and free everyone. Melan was then able to find Ryunma's main body hidden inside its disguise and kill it.
- Kalkinion: The Building Relocation Monomakia. Several of them were sent to the World Expo in Osaka to kill Marin. They were able to move buildings, as well as somehow animate them for battle. On top of that, they were swallowing and eating innocent people at the Expo. Melan was sucked into one of the creature's mouths while Poikun took Marin and Moto to safety. Hoping to save Melan, Marin went to an exhibit Lolo had shown her earlier and found an ampoule there. Just as she picked it up the same monster that sucked up Melan caught, but Marin dropped the ampoule and Kushatohn came out. Kushatohn was able to pry open the monster's mouth so Marin and Melan could fly out, and she then defeated all the monsters herself.
- Pingpong: A Tournament Monomakia composed of a spiked ball and two spiked disks, much like a pingpong ball between two paddles. Able to break itself apart and strike as three separate pieces. It came to Earth in a large canister using a Mutual Collapse as cover, and was awakened when Japanese soldiers went to investigate. Marin was with the President at the time and Melan detected Pinpong before it could reach her. He defeated it by luring it away from the city and into some power lines. The electrocution stunned it and it fell. Before delivering the killing stroke, Melan expressed regret over it.
- Unnamed Guardian Monomakia: Encountered by Marin and Melan on Brigadoon. This Monomakia bears a striking resemblance to Kushatohn, who stayed behind to fight it while Marin and Melan continued to the core of Brigadoon. Since Kushatohn was later seen battling renegade Monomakias in its place, it may be assumed that the Guardian was defeated.
- Unnamed Turtle Monomakia: Encountered by Marin and Melan on Brigadoon. These Monomakia naturally live in the water and fire exploding, fish-like projectiles. Poikun stayed behind to fight them while Marin and Melan continued to the core of Brigadoon. Later, Poikun was still seen avoiding them as Marin hurries to rescue Creis.
- Skia: An executioner Monomakia sent to Earth to assassinate Melan. His basic appearance was similar to that of a Gun-Swordsman, except that his head and wings were a different shape and he wielded two long, boomerang-shaped blades in each hand. He attacked Melan in an empty subway tunnel while he was searching for Creis. During the chase Skia accused Melan of treachery and other crimes, repeating the word "Judgement!" over and over. He came very close to victory, but Melan tricked him by using his broken gun as a decoy and slicing him in half from behind his back.
- Death: Death was Skia's partner and was worn around his waist as belt. When the former failed to kill Melan, Death detached itself from Skia's body and trapped Melan in its grip. It slowly tightened around him and would have cut him in half if Marin hadn't found him in time. Using the legendary Monomakia called Cosmos, she took on Melan's appearance and tricked Death into releasing the real Melan. Death chased Marin around a bit, but Melan struck it down before it could harm her. He was about to kill it but she pleaded with him to let it live. Death was not as merciful, though, and while she had her back turned it stabbed her with its single sharp point. This drove Melan into such a rage that he not only pulverized Death but a concrete pillar as well.
- The Ark: A huge flying warship Monomakia with some whale-like characteristics. There were several types, but the most prominent was the one Erin controlled in her search for Creis on Earth. This Ark contained missile-like Monomakia called Vizars, which Erin could also control. After she was defeated, Melan and Marin sank the Ark in Tokyo Bay so it could not be used again.
- Vizars: A large number of these missile-like Monomakia were contained in the Ark. They were capable of pursuing a specific target and obeyed the commands of whoever controlled the Ark.
- Proliferation Enhancer: A growth-accelerating Monomakia that Erin brought with her to Earth. Its ampoule ended up in Moe's possession and infected her, causing her to grow into a giant. She would have continued growing until she exploded if Erin hadn't helped Marin and Melan cure her with an antidote Monomakia called Enesis.
